World Poker Tour

The World Poker Tour is very much a serious poker competition as it is a full-blown television production. The widely syndicated television show broadcasts a number of Texas Hold'em tournaments in a way that is both engaging to expert poker players and highly educating to newcomers; which is a formula that has drawn tremendous success for the show.

The show, which made its debut in early 2004, has played a significant role in the new mainstream attention of the game. On its debut night on television network NBC the World Poker Tour competed against SuperBowl XXXVIII and received an outstanding 3.0 rating. Since then, television networks have been jumping on the poker bandwagon to cash in on the popularity.
